9 Pakistani Students in Huawei Seeds for Future 2023. In a promising development for Pakistani youth, nine students from various universities in the country are set to participate in the highly anticipated 2023 Huawei Seeds for the Future program. This initiative, recently launched by Huawei, underscores the company’s commitment to fostering ICT talent across the Middle East and Central Asia.

Launching Excellence in Qatar

The official inauguration of the 2023 Seeds for the Future Program took place at the Qatar National Convention Centre in Doha on September 3rd, 2023. This event brought together 175 students from the Middle East and Central Asia, offering a unique platform for knowledge exchange, digital community building, and the promotion of ICT sector awareness.

A Regional Convergence

This year’s competition features students from 15 countries, including Pakistan. The Pakistani contingent represents a mix of universities, including NED University of Engineering and Technology, BUITEMS, The University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, MUET, KIU, CUI, IMSciences, and NUST.

Huawei’s Commitment

Shunli Wang, Vice President of Huawei Middle East and Central Asia, affirmed Huawei’s dedication to nurturing an open ICT talent ecosystem in the region. He emphasized how Seeds for the Future inspires young talent to shape their nations’ futures, expressing gratitude for ongoing support.

Bridging the Skills Gap

Jawad Abbassi, Head of GSMA, MENA, stressed the rapid digital transformation underway in the region, driven by technologies like AI, 5G, and cloud. He highlighted the importance of equipping students with 21st-century skills to meet the evolving demands of the ICT landscape.

A Global Impact

Huawei’s Seeds for the Future program, a flagship CSR initiative, provides a unique platform for young minds to share ideas, connect with peers worldwide, and gain insights into the dynamic ICT sector. Since its launch in 2008, it has attracted over 15,000 students from 139 countries and earned the endorsement of numerous senior officials and heads of state.

Empowering Change

The Tech4Good regional competition, now in its third year, is integrated into the Seeds for the Future program. It empowers youth to drive positive change within their communities through intensive training on cutting-edge ICT technologies and more.

Skills for the Future

Participants will dive into 5G, AI, and cloud technologies, enhancing their skill sets and job market competitiveness. Judges will evaluate their Tech4Good projects, with the top eight teams advancing to the second phase of the Tech4Good program in Dubai, UAE, from September 10-16, 2023.

Global Opportunities Await

The global competition in China beckons the winners, where they will explore ICT’s potential for sustainable development. Moreover, champions will be invited to the Tech4Good Startup Sprint in China, where they’ll experience entrepreneurial environments and compete for a startup support fund of US$100,000. This opportunity promises to be life-changing for these young innovators.
