Eligibility Criteria

To make a legitimate request the applicant must.

  • Be a citizen of, and live in, one of the following countries: Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cuba, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Haiti, Indonesia, Kenya, Madagascar, Morocco, Mozambique, Nepal, Niger, Peru, Philippines, Republic of Guinea (Conakry), Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe.
  • Hold a diploma equivalent to a graduate level degree (300 credits ECTS) for advanced masters and continuing education courses from a Belgian university (equivalent to Bac+5); Hold a diploma equivalent to an undergraduate level degree (180 credits ECTS) for advanced bachelors (equivalent to Bac+3). At the start of the course, the candidate must have held the applicable academic degree for a maximum of 20 years. Childbirth and/or adoption extend this maximum time by one year.
  • At least have two years of relevant professional experience in an ARES partner nation after completing advanced bachelor’s degrees, advanced master’s degrees, and continuing education courses.
  • Complete the application in the language in which the course will be delivered and testify to having a solid written and spoken command of the language. Furthermore, acquiring a basic level of French facilitates assimilation into daily life in Belgium.
  • Only apply for one training course at a time.

To be considered for an ARES scholarship, applicants must not have previously been accepted to a French-speaking university in Belgium.

To apply for the scholarship, you must first create an account with GIRAF and then fill out the scholarship application form. Before the deadline of January 28, 2022, at 12 p.m. (Belgian time, UTC+1), applications must be submitted.
